Chinese language is the mostly widely spoken language. Over one billion people speak some variety of Chinese as their native language. It is mostly spoken in China, Taiwan, Singapore, and Malaysia.

汉语是最为广泛使用的口语。超过十亿人的母语是中文。中国，台湾，新加坡和马来西亚这些地方说中文的人最多。

Chinese consists of varieties which are mutually intelligible to varying degrees. Standard Chinese is the official language of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) and the Republic of China (ROC, also known as Taiwan), as well as one of four official languages of Singapore. It is one of the six official languages of the United Nations. Standard Chinese (Putonghua) is a standardized form of spoken Chinese based on the Beijing dialect of Mandarin Chinese.

中文有不同类型但其基本内容和使用方式是相通的。标准中文是中华人民共和国（中华人民共和国）和中华民国（中华民国，又称台湾）的官方语言，也是新加坡四种官方语言之一。它是联合国六种官方语言之一。标准中文（普通话）是以北京方言为基础的普通话的标准化形式。

Of the other varieties of Chinese, Cantonese is influential in Guangdong Province and Cantonese-speaking overseas communities, and remains as one of the official languages of Hong Kong and of Macau.

Chinese language is written with symbols. These symbols are called Chinese characters. Chinese characters represent the oldest writing system in the world. Chinese language is the oldest known recorded language that was written on old bones and turtle shells. There are over 100,000 Chinese characters. Written Chinese is subdivided into two types: Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese.
